Responsibility
We are responsible for carrying out a factual, thorough evaluation of an measured entity’s BEE status and, based on the result, for granting a BEE score. We believe that the measured entity, not VCA, is responsible for conforming with the requirements for BEE Verification.
Openness
Openness is access to or disclosure of information. VCA shall provide public access to, or disclosure of, appropriate and timely information about the evaluation and verification process and about the verification status of any measured entity in order to gain confidence in the integrity and credibility of the BEE verification process.
VCA shall provide access to or disclosure of specific interested parties’ non-confidential and non-proprietary information about the results of specific evaluations (e.g. evaluations in response to complaints) in order to gain and maintain confidence.
Confidentiality
VCA keeps any proprietary information about a measured entity confidential. All personnel have an obligation to respect the confidentiality of information about a client’s affairs acquired in the course of professional services and such information should not be used for personal advantage. The obligation continues even after the end of the relationship between the firm and the client, and the firm and the personnel. Confidential information should not be disclosed to third parties unless there is a legal or professional right or duty to disclose.
However, VCA may disclose a measured entity’s actual verification result, without compromising the confidentiality of the information supporting the verification outcome.
Resolution of complaints
Parties that rely on the outcome of the verification status as assessed by VCA expect to have their complaints investigated. If these complaints are found to be valid, VCA shall appropriately address and resolve them as stated somewhere in this policy document re-on complaints and appeals.
